Read an Academic Passage

A compact textbook paragraph with factual, vocabulary, purpose, and inference items. The descendant of the old long-passage set.

On the day

  1. Read once for structure: claim, evidence, complication.
  2. Vocabulary-in-context: replace the word with each option and keep the sentence’s logic.
  3. Purpose questions ask why a sentence is there, not what it says.
  4. Inference must be smaller than the passage, never bigger.
